Bloomberg has launched its new Collateralized Loan Obligations (CLO) Data solution, providing market participants with comprehensive, normalized, and high-quality reference data across the global CLO market. The company designed the solution to help investors and financial institutions analyze CLO structures, underlying loans, risk exposures, and performance through a more consistent data environment. The new solution provides loan-level information for every loan held within a CLO portfolio.
Moreover, users can combine this data with Bloomberg’s regulatory, risk, sustainability, pricing, and analytics datasets to conduct deeper analysis. Bloomberg has also aligned the solution with CLO data available on its Terminal through functions such as LLD<GO> and CPR<GO>, allowing customers to maintain consistent workflows across desktop and enterprise environments. Additionally, customers can access the data through Bloomberg Query Language (BQL). Bloomberg also plans to integrate the structured reference and loan-level information into ASKB, its new conversational AI interface on the Bloomberg Terminal.
Bloomberg Launches New CLO Data Solution Globally
Through ASKB, users will be able to screen CLO collateral, compare collateral characteristics, and perform cross-deal analysis. Over time, Bloomberg expects the interface to incorporate information from offering documents, enabling users to assess deal terms alongside underlying collateral. Bloomberg said the solution covers security master information, identifiers, payment details, deal structures, coverage tests, and tranche-level performance indicators.
As a result, customers can use the data for deal and tranche discovery, cross-deal analysis, cash-flow modeling, risk assessment, performance analysis, security master maintenance, and lifecycle tracking. “As the CLO market has grown, investors have had to piece together information from multiple sources, often with different identifiers and ways of describing the same structural features,” said Maureen Gallagher, Head of Enterprise Reference Data at Bloomberg. She added, “Bloomberg is making it easier for clients to understand how the security, its collateral and the corporate borrower fit together in one view.” Furthermore, Bloomberg’s CLO Loan Level Data package connects with CLO Reference Data, Syndicated Loan Reference Data, and Entity Reference Data.
By normalizing holdings and mapping Financial Instrument Global Identifiers (FIGIs), the company enables users to move from CLO deals and tranches to underlying loan exposures and associated corporate entities. The solution also forms part of Bloomberg’s broader Enterprise Data offerings. Bloomberg said its analysts source information from market participants and company filings, including prospectuses and trustee reports, while quality-control processes validate key metrics and identify potential anomalies. Finally, Bloomberg Data License customers can access the content through its data platform, while Terminal customers can receive it through SFTP, REST API, cloud environments, B-PIPE, and Bloomberg Enterprise Products.
