Capital.com acquires FxPro European client book, marking another significant consolidation move in the retail foreign exchange (FX) and contracts for difference (CFD) industry. The transaction follows Trade Nation’s acquisition of FXCM’s UK client book and AvaTrade’s agreement to acquire most of FXCM’s remaining retail brokerage business. The deal will transfer eligible FxPro clients to Capital Com Group Ltd, Capital.com’s European entity.
Both companies operate as Cyprus Investment Firms (CIFs) authorised and regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC). However, neither company has disclosed the financial terms of the agreement. The transaction also reflects Capital.com’s continued use of strategic acquisitions to expand its European presence. In 2023, the company acquired the client book of OvalX, formerly known as ETX Capital.

Meanwhile, FxPro has increasingly focused on markets outside the European Union and explored other business areas, including its BankPro venture. Following CySEC’s approval of the relevant change of control and client eligibility, Capital.com will assess prospective transferred clients against its own onboarding and risk standards. Consequently, only clients who meet the company’s requirements will move to its platform. Capital.com will also apply its client categorisation, appropriateness assessments, target-market criteria and know-your-customer (KYC) procedures.
Christoforos Soutzis, Europe CEO at Capital.com, said, “This step will strengthen our reach in Europe and once the transfer completes, will bring a well-established client base into the environment we have built for everyone who uses Capital.com.” He added, “Our focus is on giving the clients who will join us the same standards of service, protection and transparency our existing clients rely on, and on managing that transition with the same discipline and compliance controls we apply across the Group.” Furthermore, Capital.com emphasised that it would manage the transfer through clear communication, careful oversight and established client-protection procedures.
The company aims to provide incoming clients with access to market insights, educational resources, risk-management tools and information designed to support informed trading decisions. Capital.com has served European clients from Cyprus since 2017, and the acquisition will build on that established presence. Nevertheless, the company said organic growth remains its primary strategy, while targeted acquisitions will complement expansion when they involve credible regulated counterparts and serve clients’ interests. Overall, the agreement highlights the continuing consolidation of the retail FX and CFD sector, as brokers pursue strategic transactions to strengthen their market positions and expand their regulated client bases.
