Interactive Brokers Group has introduced Autonomous AI Trading, a new feature that enables eligible clients to authorize connected artificial intelligence platforms to identify market opportunities and submit supported trading orders independently. The capability covers more than 75,000 listed stocks, options, and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) worldwide, giving investors greater flexibility in managing their trading strategies.  Through this new service, clients can create and fund a dedicated AI Partition by transferring money from their existing Interactive Brokers accounts.

Consequently, they can access autonomous trading functionality without opening another account or making an external deposit. The platform also enables investors to establish personalized trading instructions through natural language, making it easier to communicate their strategies and preferences to connected AI systems.  Furthermore, the AI operates within client-defined instructions, account restrictions, and built-in safeguards designed to help manage risk.

According to Interactive Brokers Chief Executive Officer Milan Galik, “For decades, Interactive Brokers has used automation to give investors greater access, efficiency and control.” He added that “IBKR Autonomous Trading builds on that approach, allowing clients to define their trading strategies and safeguards while connected AI monitors markets and executes trades within those parameters.”  Unlike conventional AI tools that primarily support research and generate trading ideas, Autonomous Trading can monitor market developments, assess opportunities against predefined instructions, and submit supported orders without requiring individual approval for every transaction.

Therefore, investors can potentially respond more efficiently to market movements across different time zones and asset classes.  Moreover, the new capability expands Interactive Brokers’ existing AI Integration service. Previously, clients could connect AI platforms, generate trading instructions, review the proposed orders, and approve them before submission. However, Autonomous Trading introduces an additional option that allows eligible users to authorize connected AI systems to submit supported orders directly within the dedicated partition. Interactive Brokers also offers several AI-powered tools to strengthen its trading ecosystem.

Its AI Integration connects accounts with platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, and Perplexity through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Meanwhile, AI Screeners help users identify stocks through natural-language searches, while Investment Themes highlight companies and industries linked to specific trends.  Additionally, the Connections tool allows investors to explore relationships among individual stocks, sector ETFs, derivatives, thematic data, and event contracts. With these capabilities, Interactive Brokers continues expanding its AI-driven trading infrastructure while giving eligible clients more options to automate investment activities within established parameters.
