eToro launches AUD accounts to empower Australian investors and provide a more localized trading experience. The platform’s new updates aim to simplify how Australians build wealth, offering reduced currency conversion costs, interest on cash balances, recurring investments, and instant bank transfers. With the launch of AUD accounts, Australian users can now deposit, hold, withdraw, and invest directly in their local currency.
Instead of converting to USD by default, traders can choose between AUD and USD balances, reducing unnecessary conversion fees. Moreover, when investing in ASX-listed stocks, users can completely avoid conversion charges by funding trades in AUD. Additionally, eToro has introduced major discounts on conversions between AUD and USD for users buying USD-traded assets. Conversion fees start at only 0.75% and can drop to 0.15% depending on the user’s eToro Club tier.
This upgrade gives investors better control over currency exposure within their trading strategy. Currently, Australians can earn up to 4.05% interest on their USD balances, and soon, they will also receive interest on their AUD cash holdings. Alongside this, users can invest in more than 200 additional ASX-listed companies.
eToro Launches AUD Accounts to Empower Australians
Commenting on the development, Doron Rosenblum, Executive Vice President, Business Solutions at eToro, said, “The introduction of AUD accounts is more than just a convenience. It enables Australian retail investors to reduce costs, manage their currency exposure more effectively, and gain greater control over their trading experience.” He added that innovations like recurring investments would “give Australian users a real edge in markets.” To enhance its long-term investment offerings, eToro has introduced recurring investments in Australia, allowing users to set automated purchases at regular intervals. This feature supports consistent investing habits and saves users from placing manual orders.
The option is available for stocks, ETFs, and cryptoassets. Furthermore, users will soon be able to deposit BTC, ETH, USDC, and XRP from external wallets, convert them to AUD, and reinvest seamlessly. Robert Francis, Managing Director at eToro Australia, stated, “Our goal is to provide users with the best possible investing and money management experience, combining global access with local advantages.”
These updates coincide with eToro’s ongoing expansion in Australia, following its 2024 acquisition of local investing app Spaceship. The rollout of AUD accounts highlights eToro’s dedication to empowering Australian investors with advanced tools, flexible options, and a more personalized trading experience.
